my brother emailed me this article today - healthcare is a mess and here are some reasons why, as well as what we can do.  it's a very well written article with several good ideas for solutions.  unfortunately, with our incompetent, ignorant government, this probably won't ever happen (or at least not in the near future).

why people overuse the ER

for those of you who are unaware, june 16th marks the day in which leopold bloom journeys through dublin in james joyce's classic novel Ulysses. this novel changed my life. seriously. i'm so glad i studied english in college and was able to be exposed to amazing non-sciencey things (as sciencey things are currently my life right now).
